Description:
Cruise is a self-driving service focused on building advanced self-driving vehicles to enhance urban mobility and safety.

The position is remote-friendly and involves building and supporting a petabyte-scale data platform in the cloud for Cruise’s ML Data Platform tools and services.
Responsibilities include ensuring scalable and reliable data ingestion and management, developing data consumption and processing tools, and orchestrating large-scale computational pipelines.
The role requires leading the development of the next generation data processing platform using Beam and Spark, building self-serve capabilities, and owning technical projects from inception to completion.
The engineer will also conduct technical interviews, onboard, and mentor junior engineers and interns.
Requirements:
Candidates must have experience building a data processing system using Beam/Spark and optimizing data processing clusters for cost efficiency and performance.
Experience in building high-throughput, low-latency serving systems is required.
Candidates should have experience with the full ML model lifecycle, including feature engineering, training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
Proficiency in building scalable infrastructure on the cloud using Python or Java/Scala is necessary.
A minimum of 10 years of experience working with big data is required.
A BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent real-world experience is mandatory.
Candidates should demonstrate a passion for self-driving technology and possess strong problem-solving skills.
