Description:

The Staff Software Engineer will be part of the Network Platform team at Plaid, responsible for managing and optimizing network traffic and data extraction to ensure efficient and reliable data access for all products and customers.
The role involves developing and maintaining traffic controlling systems for rate limiting and traffic allocation across Plaid's APIs and services, as well as high volume data extraction systems.
Responsibilities include impacting the experience of product teams, end-users, applications in FinTech, and financial institutions by driving projects to improve observability, reliability, cost profile, and performance of distributed systems.
The role also involves defining the team's technical roadmap, hands-on coding, architectural design, debugging complex systems, and mentoring and leading the team.

Requirements:

8+ years of experience as a backend engineer, with a track record of leading large initiatives.
2+ years of experience as a TL/major contributor on data-heavy backend teams and coaching mid and senior level engineers.
Experience leading multi-person, multi-quarter projects, working on platform teams, and focusing on reliability, observability, and cost initiatives is a plus.
Deep knowledge and experience in AWS and K8s configuration, troubleshooting, orchestration, and monitoring is desirable.
Expert coding ability in Go/NodeJS/TypeScript is preferred.

The target base salary for this role is between $182,520 and $297,000 per year, with additional compensation in the form of equity and/or commission.
