Remote Staff Software Engineer - O11y, Asserts

Description:

• The Asserts.ai team, part of Grafana Labs, is expanding within the Observability group, focusing on low-latency microservices built in Java and utilizing Graph DB.
• The backend team is responsible for providing automated Root Cause Insights by querying Grafana Cloud Metrics, Traces, and Logs databases, integrating with Grafana platform components like Dashboarding and Alerting.
• The services are multi-tenant, highly available, and process/store data in Graph and Time Series DB, with plans to roll out to thousands of self-service customers.
• The role involves driving technical and business strategy, influencing the product roadmap, and innovating from ideation to customer adoption.
• Responsibilities include system design, creating design documents, collaborating across teams, delivering new features, and ensuring the reliability, performance, and availability of critical systems.
• Participation in on-call rotations and mentoring team members is expected, along with striving to become a subject matter expert in observability products and systems.

Requirements:

• Candidates must be motivated self-starters with a bias towards action and a customer-focused mindset.
• Experience in delivering projects from gathering requirements to shipping products is essential.
• Candidates should have experience in building and deploying SaaS software on cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong experience in Java programming and building/deploying Java-based microservices is required.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes is necessary.
• Candidates must have experience operating production services and participating in on-call rotations.
• Active mentoring of team members and sharing knowledge through blog posts or tech talks is expected.
• A curiosity for learning new programming languages and frameworks is important.
• Nice to have: Experience as a power user of Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles.
