Description:

  • Cruise is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Observability team to enhance observability systems, tools, and the related codebase.
  • The role involves using software and systems engineering skills to contribute code, perform code reviews, and create technical designs that improve performance and reliability of observability systems.
  • The engineer will proactively identify and address challenges to improve engineering through observability.
  • The position requires partnering with Software Engineering teams to understand use-cases and guide engineers in using existing tools effectively.
  • The engineer will build tools to enable engineers to collect and act on observability signals.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have previous experience as an SRE, Production Engineer, Systems Engineer, or Software Engineer with a focus on distributed systems reliability.
  • Considerable experience in working with container orchestration systems, such as Kubernetes, is required.
  • Proficiency in designing and developing sophisticated distributed systems, with expertise in one or more high-level programming languages like Go, Python, Rust, C/C++, or NodeJS, is necessary.
  • Experience in implementing new technology or services by leading or driving a multi-functional effort is essential.
  • Candidates should have experience in designing and implementing large-scale systems.
  • Considerable Linux experience is required.
  • Effective collaboration skills to work closely with team members and various engineering teams are necessary.
