Description:
Astronomer is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their remote team in India.
The role involves ensuring the seamless operation and deployment of the flagship enterprise product, Astronomer Software.
The R&D team focuses on providing an exceptional experience in managing Apache Airflow at scale.
Responsibilities include leading the design and development of core platform applications and services using Node.js and React.js.
The engineer will architect, build, and maintain highly scalable and resilient applications on Kubernetes clusters, utilizing Helm for deployments and management.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Product, DevOps, and QA, is essential to deliver high-quality features and improvements.
The role includes driving technical strategy and architectural decisions to support a robust and scalable platform.
Mentoring and supporting team members while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement is expected.
The engineer will ensure adherence to best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation.
Participation in code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and enforcing coding standards is required.
The engineer will identify and resolve complex technical challenges, implementing robust solutions for scalability, performance, and reliability.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of overall software engineering experience, including experience managing and leading engineering teams or mentoring junior engineers.
Proven experience deploying, managing, and scaling applications in Node.js and React.js on a Kubernetes production environment is required.
Experience with distributed systems is necessary.
Candidates should have experience with SQL databases, specifically Postgres or MySQL.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to find middle ground.
Experience in communicating technical concepts through architectural diagrams is required.
A strong understanding of microservices architecture, containerization, and cloud-native application development is necessary.
Candidates should have a solid understanding of CI/CD tools like CircleCI and experience integrating them in a Kubernetes environment on major cloud providers.
Writing and maintaining documentation around key systems and processes is expected.
Participation in an on-call rotation with some of the largest customers is required.
Candidates must perform root cause analysis during incidents and document results in the form of post-mortems.
