Description:
Prepared is seeking an experienced platform engineer to join their platform engineering team in a remote capacity.
The role involves designing, building, and maintaining software and infrastructure to ensure smooth operation from development to production.
Responsibilities include architecting core systems, implementing best practices for software development, automating tasks, and mentoring junior engineers.
The position offers a high degree of autonomy and ownership within a small, growing engineering organization.
As an early team member, you will help shape Prepared’s engineering culture and contribute to the long-term strategy of the platform.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of software engineering experience and a proven background in platform engineering or a similar role.
Experience with large-scale distributed systems is required.
A strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure is essential.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane is necessary.
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is expected.
A solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Github Actions, Drone CI, or Gitlab CI is required.
Proficiency in or eagerness to learn the backend stack (RoR, Go) is important.
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as OpenTelemetry, Datadog, and the LGTM stack is preferred.
Strong communication skills and a passion for documentation are essential.
Bonus points for experience in an early-stage startup, knowledge of security and compliance best practices, and expertise in Ruby on Rails, Golang, or IaC tools.
