The Staff Software Engineer will own the technical architecture of Wander's core platform and set standards for software excellence across multiple product squads.
This role involves collaborating with product, design, and operations leadership to make foundational decisions that unlock new business lines and enhance developer productivity.
Responsibilities include defining the technical direction for various systems, driving engineering best practices, mentoring engineers, leading cross-functional initiatives, guiding capacity planning, and improving developer experience.

Requirements:

Candidates must have experience scaling production systems and have operated at a Staff level or higher for several years.
A successful track record in designing extensible and composable service or plugin architectures for multiple product lines is required.
Deep experience with TypeScript and Node.js is essential, along with a polyglot mindset for choosing appropriate tools like Go, Rust, or Python.
Mastery of PostgreSQL or equivalent RDBMS, event-driven patterns, and cloud-native infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure) is necessary.
Candidates should have experience embedding observability and reliability engineering into workflows.
Comfort with running monorepos and designing build pipelines for frequent deployments is required.
Hands-on experience with integrating LLM or AI services into production systems is a strong plus.
Proven ability to mentor, influence, and communicate effectively in various formats is essential.
