Remote Staff Software Engineer (Platform/Backend)

Description:

• The Staff Software Engineer will be responsible for developing secure, well-tested, and performant features and improvements to the mParticle platform.
• They will collaborate with engineers of all levels and product management to maintain high quality and usability standards.
• Advocating for product quality, security, and performance initiatives will be a key part of their role.
• Crafting code that aligns with the team's quality and style guidelines, and conducting thorough code reviews to encourage adherence to these guidelines.
• Designing elegant cloud architecture solutions that seamlessly integrate into existing designs and making buy vs build tradeoffs.
• Analyzing complex systems to identify areas for performance improvement and creatively tuning a large-scale distributed system.
• Providing technical leadership within the team, ensuring quality and timely content delivery.
• Driving mParticle's engineering culture through research, self-improvement, and internal presentations, while also mentoring engineers in best practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 7+ years of hands-on experience in software development, preferably in a SaaS or PaaS environment.
• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language.
• Demonstrated experience in designing scalable cloud-based architectures.
• 3+ years of professional experience in Cloud/Distributed Systems, including containerization, SQL/RDBMS, NoSQL databases, messaging systems, AWS services, and networking concepts.
• Familiarity with various testing and validation techniques, RESTful and/or RPC APIs, and web services development principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to excel in a fully remote work environment.
• Understanding of high-volume applications requiring 24/7 uptime and experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
