Description:
The Staff Software Engineer will be part of the Orders Reporting Platform team at Square, focusing on helping merchants of all sizes gain insights from their core sales data.
The team is responsible for building a multi-layered platform to enhance the user-facing reporting experience at Square.
The role involves leading the design and implementation of new platform features, mentoring and leading engineers, and collaborating with partner teams across the company.
The Staff Engineer will work with Product and stakeholders to identify platform requirements, provide high-quality contributions across multiple code bases, and drive impact through technical leadership and mentorship.
The position requires bridging real-time transactional systems with batch/analytical systems and influencing the code base towards technical and architectural end states for the project.
Requirements:
7+ years of software development experience is required for this role.
Familiarity with architecting/implementing Java-/Kotlin-based backend services is essential.
Strong product intuition and interest, along with platform-building experience, are necessary qualifications.
Tactical and strategic leadership experience on medium/large-scale software projects is a must.
Strong written communication skills for internal and external stakeholders are required.
Interest and experience in mentoring other engineers is a key requirement.
