As a Staff Software Engineer, you will focus on building a real-time, high-volume data pipeline called "Activity Firehose" that captures key buyer intent signals for real estate clients.
You will collaborate with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to ingest, process, and surface actionable user activities at scale.
Your responsibilities include architecting and owning the Activity Firehose, driving event-driven best practices, mentoring engineering teams, ensuring data reliability and observability, and collaborating cross-functionally to define KPIs and success metrics.

Requirements:

You must have 8+ years of experience in building scalable web applications and services, particularly in real-time data pipelines.
A deep expertise in event-driven architectures, streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka), and microservices is required, along with the ability to integrate with third-party APIs and data sources.
A proven track record of designing and deploying high-volume, high-availability systems using AWS or comparable cloud infrastructure is essential.
Strong proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design for large-scale data ingestion and retrieval, is necessary.
Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools is required to maintain system health and performance.
Familiarity with front-end ecosystems, particularly React, is a plus to guide event instrumentation and data capture.
Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential, with a history of mentoring engineers and influencing technical roadmaps.
You should be comfortable with Agile methodologies and related collaboration tools, emphasizing rapid iteration and continuous improvement.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $200,000 - $220,000 per year.
