Remote System Administrator (Linux/AWS/DevOps/DHIS 2)

Description:

• The System Administrator at BAO Systems will manage a majority of Linux-based systems, VM infrastructure, and DevOps processes.
• This role includes a strong focus on implementing security practices and addressing remediations.
• The administrator will work closely with various teams to ensure the smooth operation of the IT environment, supporting both internal and client-facing applications.
• Responsibilities include administering, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers to ensure system stability, performance, and security.
• The role involves managing AWS and/or private cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, monitoring, and scaling resources as needed.
• The administrator will implement and maintain DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Git, and Ansible.
• Regular security scans and assessments will be performed to identify vulnerabilities and implement appropriate security measures.
• The position requires managing and supporting EKS, k8s, and related technologies.
• Automating routine tasks using scripting languages such as Bash and Python is expected.
• Monitoring system health and performance using monitoring tools and responding to incidents and outages effectively is part of the job.
• Collaboration with development, security, and operations teams to improve system reliability and implement best practices is essential.
• The administrator will develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and security practices.
• Providing technical support and guidance to other team members and stakeholders is also a key responsibility.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
• Candidates must have 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Proven experience as a System Administrator with expertise in Linux environments is necessary.
• Experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, and VPC is required.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure as code is essential.
• Experience with security practices, including vulnerability scanning, patch management, and incident response is needed.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python) is required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are necessary.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams are essential.
