Description:
The Systems Administrator will oversee and support the organization’s server environments, ensuring system reliability and maintaining network resources.
This role involves managing and maintaining server infrastructure, including overseeing server configurations, performance, and security on both Windows and Linux environments.
The administrator will implement and manage security protocols, including firewalls, antivirus, patch management, and access controls to ensure system security and compliance.
Responsibilities include managing virtual environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud-based services (e.g., AWS, Azure) to optimize resource utilization and scalability.
The role requires developing and maintaining backup and recovery procedures to protect data integrity and ensure business continuity.
The Systems Administrator will provide technical support for end-users and systems, acting as a resource for technical issues escalated from the helpdesk.
Documentation of system configurations, operational processes, and troubleshooting guides is essential for team reference and future planning.
Monitoring system performance and optimizing resources using monitoring tools to track system performance, uptime, and usage is a key responsibility.
Requirements:
Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux servers, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting is required.
A strong understanding of system security best practices, firewall management, antivirus, and access controls is necessary.
Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (AWS, Azure) for efficient resource management is essential.
Familiarity with backup tools and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data protection and continuity is required.
Excellent troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving system issues quickly and effectively are necessary.
A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required, with equivalent experience in systems administration considered.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional) are advantageous.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in systems administration or IT infrastructure, with a proven track record of maintaining and optimizing server environments is required.
Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds) for tracking system health and performance is necessary.
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automating system tasks is beneficial.
