Description:
The Systems Architect will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by designing and overseeing the implementation of complex technical solutions that support mission-critical systems in a public health organization.
This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), which aims to help public health agencies by providing technology and data experts to accelerate information system improvements.
The Systems Architect will provide expertise and guidance in technology architecture, focusing on technical (including infrastructure and networks) and application architecture strategies, technology road mapping, and methodologies.
Responsibilities include managing the planning, design, delivery, and implementation of user-centric solutions related to large-scale, complex products required to meet critical business requirements.
The position involves collaborating with partners to understand business requirements, designing architectural solutions, creating system architecture diagrams, and evaluating existing systems for improvement.
The Systems Architect will define technical standards, recommend new technologies, conduct feasibility studies, provide technical leadership, and ensure security and compliance in system architecture.
This position is remote but must be based in the United States and is grant funded with a limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2025.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Strong understanding of database systems, including relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is essential.
Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server is required.
Expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration techniques is necessary.
Candidates must have hands-on experience designing modern architectural patterns for complex IT solutions that are stable, secure, responsive, and scalable.
Knowledge of technical security and product management best practices is required.
Expert proficiency in the Microsoft Azure Platform is essential.
Knowledge of current industry standards for automating and integrating processes is necessary.
Hands-on knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, and JavaScript, as well as modern JavaScript-based technologies, is required.
Experience in designing and writing automated test scripts for various testing types is necessary.
Proven experience applying software engineering and architectural best practices to product delivery is required.
Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and outstanding interpersonal skills are essential.
Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams is required.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits, with individual salary offers based on experience and qualifications.
