Description:
The Systems Architect will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by designing and overseeing the implementation of complex technical solutions that support mission-critical systems in a public health organization.
This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping public health agencies improve their information systems.
The Systems Architect will work within the Vermont Department of Health (VDH) and collaborate with IT leaders from the Vermont Agency of Digital Services (ADS).
Responsibilities include providing expertise in technology architecture, focusing on technical and application architecture strategies, technology road mapping, and methodologies.
The position involves designing and documenting architecture for cloud-based databases and applications, ensuring appropriate handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
The Systems Architect will develop a roadmap for transitioning systems from hosted SQL databases to Azure cloud-native systems capable of modern authentication.
This position is eligible for a fully remote work arrangement for U.S. based candidates.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is necessary.
Candidates must have experience and expertise in system architecture with deep technical knowledge of application design, implementation, and deployment.
Hands-on experience designing modern architectural patterns for complex IT solutions is required.
Knowledge of technical security and product management best practices is essential.
Familiarity with industry standards for architecting, automating, and integrating processes is necessary.
Hands-on experience using SQL and programming languages such as C# .NET, VB.NET, and JavaScript is required.
Candidates should have expert-level understanding of modern architectural standards for Azure cloud-based solutions.
Experience in designing and writing automated test scripts for various testing types is necessary.
Proven experience in applying software engineering best practices to product delivery is required.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and outstanding interpersonal skills are necessary.
Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams is required.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits.
Individual salary offers will be based on experience and qualifications unique to each candidate.
This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity with a position end date of June 30, 2025.
