Description:
The Systems Architect will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by designing and overseeing the implementation of complex technical solutions that support mission-critical systems in a public health organization.
This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping public health agencies improve their information systems.
The Systems Architect will work within the Multnomah County Health Department's Development, Data & Analytics Platforms Team.
Responsibilities include providing expertise in on-prem SQL Server and Azure Cloud architecture to redesign public health Data Warehouse systems for increased efficiency and capability in the Azure Cloud with Snowflake.
The position is remote, but candidates must be based in the United States.
The salary range is $103,500-$143,500 per year, with individual offers based on experience and qualifications.
The work schedule is from 8:30 am to 5 pm Pacific time, with occasional meetings outside these hours.
This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2025.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience and expertise in system architecture with deep technical knowledge of application design, implementation, and deployment are essential.
Hands-on experience designing modern architectural patterns for complex and legacy IT solutions is required.
Knowledge of technical security and product management best practices is necessary.
Familiarity with current industry standards for architecting, automating, and integrating processes is required.
Hands-on knowledge of Azure Cloud and Snowflake tooling, including Azure Data Factory and Snowflake Native tools, is essential.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and/or C#, as well as Transact-SQL and Snowflake’s SQL dialect, is required.
Candidates should have advanced knowledge of Azure Cloud environments, Azure DevOps, and Azure Blob Storage.
Experience with on-prem SQL Server architecture is necessary.
Proven ability to design and implement secure systems with appropriate access controls is required.
Experience in data migration and integration projects is preferred.
Familiarity with healthcare or public health data systems and relevant data standards is strongly preferred.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills are essential.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and outstanding interpersonal skills are required.
Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams is necessary.
