Description:
The Systems Architect position at Ground News involves developing a comprehensive understanding of the platform's various systems by collaborating with system owners to achieve a deep, nuanced understanding.
Acting as a technical intermediary among engineering teams, fielding technical inquiries, translating complex system functionalities into actionable plans, and conveying insights in an accessible manner.
Designing, developing, and testing system architecture across the layers of the stack on time and on budget.
Involvement in high-level designs for systems within the portfolio, authoring and maintaining key architectural artifacts, and defining/maintaining architecture principles, patterns, and standards.
Tackling performance and data integrity concerns, partnering with various teams, providing guidance to junior-intermediate engineers, and engaging with a diverse set of technologies.
Requirements:
Strong knowledge and practice in technology, algorithms, data structures, systems design, performance tuning, programming languages, databases, operating systems, containerization, and cloud environments.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, mentorship abilities, and API architecture understanding.
Experience with AWS Dev-Ops Infrastructure, mobile technologies, and familiarity with native Android and iOS development concepts.
Curiosity in the political system, experience using Ground News products, and a passion for data analysis.
