Description:
The Systems Architect will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by designing and overseeing the implementation of complex technical solutions that support mission-critical systems in a public health organization.
This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping public health agencies improve their information systems.
The Systems Architect will work closely with data engineers and other stakeholders to ensure data systems are reliable, efficient, and scalable.
Responsibilities include planning data modernization efforts and hands-on tasks in data warehouse design, data architecture, data integration, database administration, and data process automation.
The position is remote, but candidates must be based in the United States, with a preferred work schedule of 8am-5pm Central time zone.
The salary range is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits, with individual offers based on experience and qualifications.
This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2025.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent) is required.
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in data systems architecture, design, implementation, and data warehouse architecture.
Deep knowledge of system architecture, modern architectural patterns, cloud-based solutions, and security best practices is essential.
Extensive experience with SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Snowflake, including performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security management, is required.
Proficiency in ETL tools, data modeling, and database performance tuning is necessary, along with experience in orchestration tools like Apache Airflow and integration tools such as SSIS, Talend, or Informatica.
Hands-on experience with programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript) and modern JavaScript frameworks (Node.js, React, Vue) is needed.
Experience in designing and writing automated test scripts for unit, integration, and end-to-end testing is required.
Expertise in feasibility studies, system architecture reviews, and developing solutions for complex, multi-year plans is necessary.
Strong analytical thinking, communication, and teamwork abilities are essential, along with the ability to resolve complex integration and technical issues.
