Description:
The Systems Architect will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by designing and overseeing the implementation of complex technical solutions that support mission-critical systems in a public health organization.
This role is aligned with the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping public health agencies improve their information systems.
The Systems Architect will provide expertise and guidance in technology architecture, focusing on technical and application architecture strategies, technology road mapping, and methodologies.
Responsibilities include reviewing department systems for sustainability and scalability, developing and implementing a data integration plan, and identifying key performance measures to track progress towards data modernization.
The position involves facilitating communication between technical and non-technical staff, managing the planning and delivery of user-centric solutions, and collaborating with partners to design architectural solutions that meet business requirements.
The Systems Architect will create system architecture diagrams, evaluate existing systems for improvement, define technical standards, and recommend new technologies to enhance system performance.
The role requires conducting feasibility studies, providing technical leadership during implementation, ensuring security and compliance, and developing cloud strategies aligned with business goals.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Expertise in system architecture with deep technical knowledge of application design, implementation, and deployment is essential.
Hands-on experience in designing modern architectural patterns for complex IT solutions is required.
Knowledge of technical security and product management best practices is necessary.
Familiarity with current industry standards for automating and integrating processes is expected.
Candidates should have hands-on knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and R, as well as modern JavaScript-based technologies.
Experience with electronic health records and familiarity with eClinicalWorks and Credible is preferred.
Experience with electronic survey software, particularly Qualtrics, is also preferred.
Candidates must have experience working with relational databases and an expert-level understanding of cloud-based architectural standards.
Proven experience in applying software engineering best practices and conducting feasibility studies is required.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and outstanding interpersonal skills are necessary.
Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite are required.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits, with individual offers based on experience and qualifications.
This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity with a position end date of June 30, 2025.
The position allows for a fully remote work arrangement for U.S.-based candidates.
