Description:
The Systems Architect will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by designing and overseeing the implementation of complex technical solutions that support mission-critical systems in a public health organization.
This role is aligned with the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping public health agencies improve their information systems.
The Systems Architect will provide expertise in technology architecture using Snowflake’s cloud data platform, focusing on technical and application architecture strategies, technology road mapping, and methodologies.
Responsibilities include leading the design, development, and deployment of scalable and secure cloud data architectures on Snowflake, ensuring alignment with business requirements and best practices.
The position involves implementing a user access management system with role-based permissions for local health departments and configuring a functional master person index cloud-based environment.
The Systems Architect will analyze current infrastructure and database design, contribute to architecture policies, and work closely with data engineering and analytics teams to support real-time analytics and reporting needs.
The role requires facilitating migrations from on-premises to cloud-based platforms, defining technical standards, and recommending new technologies to enhance system performance.
The Systems Architect will conduct feasibility studies, perform system performance tuning, and ensure security and compliance requirements are integrated into the architecture.
The position is remote, must be based in the United States, and is grant-funded with an end date of June 30, 2025.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Expertise in system architecture with deep technical knowledge of application design, implementation, and deployment is essential.
Hands-on experience designing modern architectural patterns for complex IT solutions is required.
Knowledge of technical security and product management best practices is necessary.
Familiarity with industry standards for architecting, automating, and integrating processes is important.
Candidates should have hands-on knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, and SQL.
Expert-level knowledge of Snowflake architecture and experience with AI/ML workload integrations is required.
Experience with data governance, security best practices, and role-based access controls in Snowflake is necessary, with Snowflake certification preferred.
Candidates should have experience conducting feasibility studies and re-engineering legacy systems.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and outstanding interpersonal skills are essential.
Experience working in a virtual environment with remote teams is necessary.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits, with individual offers based on experience and qualifications.
