Description:
The Systems Architect will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by designing and overseeing the implementation of complex technical solutions that support mission-critical systems in a public health organization.
This position is based within the Alaska Department of Health, IT Business Applications Team, and focuses on providing expertise and guidance for the design and implementation of a HIPAA-compliant Power BI Service for the Alaska Division of Public Health (DPH).
The role emphasizes ensuring robust data governance and maintaining strict compliance with healthcare data privacy regulations.
The Systems Architect will collaborate closely with the IT Security Office and Data Modernization Team to provide essential training and support for HIPAA compliance.
This position is eligible for a fully remote work arrangement for U.S. based candidates and is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2025.
The salary range for this position is $115,000-$165,000, plus benefits.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
Candidates must have experience and expertise in system architecture with deep technical knowledge of application design, implementation, and deployment, as well as current and emerging architecture practices.
Proven experience implementing a Power BI Service in a HIPAA-compliant environment is essential.
Expertise in Power BI Service architecture and components is required.
Candidates should have experience with data security and compliance, particularly HIPAA.
Strong proficiency in Azure services and tools related to Power BI is necessary.
Knowledge of Power BI administration, including capacity planning, security configuration, and licensing, is required.
Understanding of network architecture and data gateway configuration for Power BI is essential.
Familiarity with Power BI Embedded and the ability to embed analytics into applications is preferred.
Candidates must be able to work with data warehouse architects, informaticists, and application engineers to optimize data flow and reporting performance.
Hands-on experience designing modern architectural patterns to support the delivery of complex and legacy IT solutions that are stable, secure, responsive, and scalable is required.
An expert-level understanding of modern architectural standards for cloud-based solutions is necessary.
Experience designing and writing automated test scripts for various testing types is required.
Proven experience applying software engineering best practices and architectural practices to product delivery is essential.
Candidates should have experience conducting feasibility studies and reviewing new application system architecture or re-engineering legacy systems.
The ability to develop architectural solutions to meet complex, multi-year plans is necessary.
Candidates must be able to resolve significant integration and technical issues related to multiple systems/applications.
Demonstrated success in fostering an inclusive environment while working with diverse professionals is required.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential.
