Remote Systems Engineer (VMware) at Gcore

Description:

Design, implement, and maintain VMware vSphere environments and associated storage infrastructure to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and optimal performance.
Develop and maintain infrastructure components, services, and workflows using the Puppet configuration management system.
Design robust production systems with high uptime and troubleshoot as needed.
Enhance service monitoring, implement proactive incident detection, and streamline incident response.
Operate and continuously develop internal services with a focus on automation and seamless interaction between components.
Perform data backups, restoration, and disaster recovery exercises regularly.
Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures for operational guidelines.

Deep knowledge of Linux and networking stack, with strong experience in systems engineering, particularly VMware vSphere and storage concepts.
Strong scripting/programming skills in Python and Bash for automation.
Understanding of best practices in systems engineering and operations, including monitoring, storage, backup, security, and high availability.
Ability to manage and maintain configuration management systems efficiently for service delivery and infrastructure management.

Desired Qualification & Skills:

Familiarity with Oracle Solaris and clustered configurations.
Experience in PostgreSQL/MySQL/Clickhouse databases administration.
Strong troubleshooting skills in complex, distributed, and virtualized environments.
Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
Quick learner with the ability to grasp complex systems rapidly and stay updated with technological advancements.
Excellent communication skills to work effectively across teams and with stakeholders, serving as a point of escalation for complex issues.
