Remote Tech Lead, Apex Learning

Description:

• As the Tech Lead of the Apex Learning team, you will set the technical blueprint for our products and lead the engineering team while also contributing code as a key member.
• You will be responsible for the successful delivery of new features and products to students on a weekly basis.
• Your responsibilities will include providing product input and executing on roadmaps to accomplish Alpha School objectives.
• You will build and maintain engineering infrastructure to ship tested, LLM-based software.
• You will lead, mentor, and develop an effective remote engineering team.
• You will build a culture of metrics, measurement, and test-driven development.
• Staying hands-on with product development by contributing code and prompts will be a key part of your role.

Requirements:

• You must have served as the technical lead for a group of 5 or more engineers and defined the technical roadmap for a user-facing product.
• A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience is required, with a strong ability to write excellent code and effective prompts.
• You should have experience working closely with product and business teams to drive business impact, measuring success in terms of impact rather than just lines of code.
• Preferred qualifications include having built user-facing products in the education space or with LLMs at their core.
• Familiarity with modern development tools is preferred, particularly project management tools like Linear or GitHub Projects for planning cycles and consistent shipping.
• You should leverage tools like Cursor to write code more efficiently and be committed to building an engineering team that utilizes AI tooling.

Benefits:

• The base salary for this position ranges from $350,000 to $475,000 per year.
• This role is eligible for a cash bonus of up to 150% of annual compensation based on outcomes.
