The Tech Lead Engineer role is primarily technical rather than managerial, requiring a hands-on approach to coding.
The position is fully remote, but US residency is required, and candidates outside the US will not be considered.
The role involves spending approximately 60–70% of time writing code, with the remainder dedicated to mentoring and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
The Tech Lead will report to the VP of Engineering and be a key member of Real’s R&D team, leading the technical vision for back-end development and implementing features.

Requirements:

Candidates must work Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours, regardless of their location.
Extensive experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, JPA (Hibernate), and SQL relational databases is required.
Comfort in writing unit and integration tests while maintaining strong code coverage is necessary.
Hands-on experience with microservices architecture is essential.
In-depth knowledge of relational databases, including indices, connection pools, and transactions (ACID), is required.
Experience with NoSQL databases and understanding their advantages and disadvantages is necessary.
Candidates must have experience as a tech lead, guiding teams through complex engineering challenges.
A self-motivated attitude and the ability to take initiative without constant oversight are essential.
Candidates should have a collaborative attitude and be excited to learn and teach new knowledge.
Experience in an agile, fast-paced startup environment is preferred.
A BA/BS degree and 10+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
Experience in Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, and Relational Databases is mandatory.
Prior experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers is required.
