Description:

  • MyEdSpace is seeking a Tech Lead with expertise in Laravel to lead a remote team in building AI-enhanced EdTech solutions.
  • The company operates on a Laravel-centric stack, utilizing modern technologies such as FilamentPHP, Livewire, Inertia.js, Alpine.js, React.js, and Vue.js.
  • The role involves leading and mentoring a team of 3-4 full-stack engineers, focusing on architecture and development, frontend guidance, mentorship, technical decision-making, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • The Tech Lead will design and implement scalable solutions primarily within the Laravel ecosystem, ensuring high-quality code and practices.
  • The position requires collaboration with the VP of Engineering and product teams on system architecture and technology choices.
  • The company promotes a fully remote work culture with async-friendly workflows and emphasizes individual autonomy and measurable results.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have expert-level knowledge of Laravel and the surrounding PHP ecosystem.
  • A pragmatic problem-solving approach and a strong shipping mentality focused on delivering customer value are essential.
  • Significant experience with modern Laravel tools, specifically FilamentPHP, Livewire, and ideally Laravel Vapor, is required.
  • Proven experience in leading or mentoring engineers, guiding technical direction, and uplifting team members is necessary.
  • Solid experience in building and consuming APIs (RESTful, GraphQL) is required.
  • Proficiency with React.js and/or Vue.js, along with a strong understanding of component-based architecture and state management, is essential.
  • Candidates should have a strong understanding of database design and querying (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with automated testing (PHPUnit, Pest), GitHub Actions, PHPStan, Rector, and CI/CD pipelines is required.
  • Excellent written communication skills are essential for a remote, asynchronous environment.
  • Proficiency in using collaboration tools for async communication and project management (e.g., Linear, Slack, Jira, Miro, Notion) is necessary.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain significant overlap with UK working hours and have 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering or a related field.
