Remote Tech Lead - ML / AI (LLM Systems & Infrastructure)

• The Tech Lead – ML / AI will lead the technical design and implementation of LLM-based systems, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and well-monitored.
• Responsibilities include architecting and evolving LLM-powered RAG pipelines (Retrieval-Augmented Generation).
• The Tech Lead will define the technical direction for AI/ML systems alongside backend and data teams.
• They will lead the implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and security practices for AI workflows.
• The role involves implementing or guiding hybrid retrieval, prompt engineering, and embedding strategies.
• The Tech Lead will own model integration, deployment, and scaling via Docker, FastAPI, and CI/CD.
• Ensuring compliance with GDPR, RBAC, audit logging, and data handling best practices is essential.
• The position includes mentoring other engineers in the AI team and driving the adoption of production-grade ML standards.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in ML/AI Engineering or MLOps.
• A proven track record of leading or architecting AI systems in production is required.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of LLMs, LangChain, and vector stores (e.g., Qdrant, Pinecone) is necessary.
• Experience deploying RAG or chatbot systems is essential.
• Familiarity with FastAPI, Docker, GitHub Actions, and Python packaging is required.
• Candidates should have an awareness of data privacy, security, and GDPR practices in ML workflows.
• The ability to work independently and make architectural decisions is important.
• Nice-to-have skills include experience with LLMOps tools like Langfuse, Weights & Biases, and BentoML.
• Prior exposure to streaming inference, token cost control, or multi-tenant LLM platforms is a plus.
• Understanding of fine-tuning or prompt-evaluation pipelines is also desirable.
