Description:
Friends From The City is seeking a Technical Lead, Full Stack Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary development team on a civic tech project.
The role is remote and based in the continental U.S., with a salary of $170,000 per year.
The Technical Lead will guide the architecture and development of web applications and infrastructure, champion accessibility and security, and mentor a team of engineers.
Responsibilities include leading the technical strategy and implementation of complex web applications, managing and mentoring a collaborative engineering team, and architecting, designing, and coding across the full stack.
The position requires ensuring code quality through modern JavaScript linting, writing well-tested and documented code, and overseeing cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices.
The Technical Lead will also ensure compliance with WCAG web accessibility standards and guide the full lifecycle of software development.
The role involves solving complex challenges using human-centered design, agile iterative development, and data-driven decision-making, as well as evaluating and implementing security protocols.
Requirements:
A minimum of 8 years of experience in full-stack software development with expertise in both frontend (JavaScript, React, Angular) and backend technologies (Node.js, Python, .NET).
Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) including deployment and management of cloud resources.
Proficient understanding of database technologies, including SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB).
Strong knowledge of CI/CD practices, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Demonstrated leadership experience guiding technical teams and projects while fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proven ability to evaluate challenges and propose efficient, appropriate solutions.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in civic tech, govtech, or mission-driven technology spaces is a plus.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
