Description:

  • The Telco Cloud Engineer at Canonical will work with the telco industry's move towards software-defined services driven by open source software, cloud computing, and VNF/CNF approaches.
  • Responsibilities include matching customer requirements to advanced capabilities in the telco space, providing technical pre-sales consulting, designing and implementing telco-grade open source private clouds, deploying cloud solutions (OpenStack, Kubernetes, MAAS, and Ceph), investigating and fixing software defects, demonstrating Infrastructure as code techniques, and helping customers adopt advanced cloud solutions.
  • The role involves learning model-driven operations with Juju charms, shaping the roadmap for growth in the telco market, and driving product improvements based on customer engagements.
  • The position requires Python software development experience, a thorough understanding of telco NFVi, technical knowledge of key telco technologies, working understanding of MNOs and CSPs architectures, knowledge of open source technology best practices, Linux, OpenStack, and Kubernetes networking, automation skills, project leadership abilities, collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Additional skills like a second language and a track record of open source contributions are beneficial.
  • The role may involve up to 50% travel for events, customer meetings, and project delivery.

Requirements:

  • Python software development experience (mandatory - intermediate level)
  • Thorough understanding of telco NFVi (VIM), NFVO, VNFM, and MEC space
  • Technical understanding of key telco technologies like CPU Pinning, NUMA, SRIOV, DPDK, etc
  • Working knowledge of Mobile Packet Core, Radio, VAS, OSS/BSS
  • Understanding of best practices for open source technology in telco virtualization
  • Working knowledge of Linux, OpenStack, and Kubernetes networking
  • Ability to lead complex projects from start to finish
  • Collaborative attitude with a keen eye on customer success
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time for events, customer meetings, project delivery
