Remote Web Engineer - PHP (Laravel) LATAM

Description:

• The Web Engineer is responsible for bringing creativity and agility to help Foxbox clients build indispensable products.
• You will contribute to the growth and evolution of clients' existing PHP web applications.
• The role involves integrating systems, implementing new features, and enhancing overall product performance.
• You will collaborate closely with senior developers and cross-functional teams to ensure the application remains robust, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
• Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a high-performance PHP Laravel web application with a focus on quality, scalability, and security.
• You will assist in mapping out the future state of the product by identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements.
• Writing and maintaining unit tests using PHPUnit to ensure code reliability and facilitate smooth deployments is required.
• Participation in code reviews, design discussions, and client meetings is expected, actively seeking feedback to improve relationships and development processes.
• Troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrading software to improve functionality and performance is part of the role.
• You will ensure best practices for security and data protection solutions within the system architecture.
• Staying up to date with backend development trends and technologies, evaluating multiple solutions, and assessing trade-offs to make informed decisions is necessary.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to distill complex technical concepts into clear, actionable work items is essential.
• Accurately logging billable and non-billable hours daily to support project tracking and client billing is required.
• Identifying opportunities to collaborate with other team members across Foxbox is encouraged.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
• You must have 3+ years of experience in PHP development.
• Proficiency in the Laravel framework and its ecosystem is necessary.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts is required.
• Experience with relational databases like MySQL and ORM frameworks such as Eloquent is essential.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is needed.
• Experience with PHP testing frameworks, particularly PHPUnit, to ensure robust and reliable code is required.
• Proficiency in systems integration, including working with RESTful APIs and third-party services, is necessary.
• You should demonstrate the ability to analyze existing products, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, are required.
• Comfort in developing backend features and implementing frontend UIs based on mockups is necessary.
• Familiarity with agile software development methodologies is preferred.
• Prior experience working in a professional services or consulting environment is required.
• Fluency in English is a must.
