Description:

  • Canonical is hiring a Web/UI Engineer to develop a data-rich and reliable user experience using JS, CSS, React, and Flutter.
  • The role involves designing and implementing well-tested and documented software in web technologies or Flutter.
  • Responsibilities include debugging and fixing issues encountered by users, participating in code and architectural reviews, and collaborating on technical specifications.
  • The engineer will contribute to technical documentation, seek improvements to engineering practices, deploy and operate services, and advocate for product success.
  • The position is globally remote, with team meetings occurring twice a year in various locations.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have an exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a STEM field is required, or a compelling narrative about an alternative path.
  • Applicants should demonstrate drive and a history of exceeding expectations.
  • The ideal candidate is well-organized, self-starting, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Professional interaction with colleagues, partners, and the community is essential.
  • Experience in designing and writing high-quality web technologies is required, along with a passion for Typescript, React, or Flutter.
  • An eye for accessibility and performance is necessary, as well as professional written and spoken English.
  • Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred) and excellent interpersonal skills are important.
  • Candidates should possess curiosity, flexibility, accountability, and excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • A result-oriented mindset with a personal drive to meet commitments is expected.
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events for up to two weeks each is required.
