Description:
As a WordPress Developer, you will be responsible for building infrastructure to create new features, improving existing code, squashing bugs, and helping to rapidly scale the platform.
You will triage bugs and small enhancements that come into GitHub, scope, write, and test new product features and addons, and refactor legacy code with attention to backwards compatibility.
You will provide feedback and peer review for other developers and communicate with the team using chat, audio, and video.
The role requires a self-starter who takes initiative and sees tasks through from conception to completion, owning features and tasks.
Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English are essential, as is a passion for quality and craftsmanship in your work.
You will work on tasks of all sizes, from small bug fixes to large features and rewrites, and be comfortable jumping between front-end and back-end development tasks.
Requirements:
You must have professional experience with WordPress plugin development, architecture, and standards.
Advanced proficiency with PHP and MySQL, including modern PHP practices such as OOP, autoloading, namespacing, traits, and interfaces is required.
Strong familiarity with JavaScript, including vanilla JS, jQuery, and ES6 is necessary.
You should be able to use and extend build tools like gulp and webpack, and be familiar with package managers such as Composer and NPM.
Experience working with third-party APIs like Stripe, Drip, and Zapier is essential.
Competence with version control through git and GitHub is required.
You must have exceptional troubleshooting skills and the ability to keep complex ideas and features simple.
Previous freelance or remote work experience is preferred, along with a personal computer and internet access.
Availability to participate in audio/video meetings between 9 am - 5 pm EST is necessary.
Bonus points for advanced proficiency in JavaScript frameworks like VueJS or React, experience with e-commerce platforms or related APIs, and experience with DevOps or infrastructure management.
