Remote Backend Architect - Pay&Card Tech

Description:

• Architect and build backend systems for card issuing and lifecycle management.
• Lead technical design and implementation of card certification processes (Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay / Google Pay).
• Define system architecture, service boundaries, and integration patterns for card platform services.
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, and compliance with payment network standards.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Establish engineering best practices, code quality standards, and technical documentation.
• Hands-on role focused on building, not just advising.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Java / Spring expertise.
• Direct experience building or maintaining a card system.
• Experience with card certification processes and/or onboarding programs.
• Strong system design and architecture skills, especially in distributed systems and high-throughput payment infrastructure.
• Understanding of card network standards, payment flows, and compliance requirements.
