Remote Cloud Data Architect

Description:

• Design and own the technical architecture of an enterprise-scale, multi-cloud data and analytics platform for the VA.
• Lead modernization efforts including migration strategy, data modeling, and platform engineering.
• Implement governance, security, and compliance strategies for handling sensitive Veteran data.
• Enable data science and AI/ML capabilities on the platform.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and VA stakeholders to deliver scalable data products.
• Support data ingestion, curation, and interoperability across VA source systems.
• Maintain technical architecture documentation and compliance artifacts.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in designing and managing enterprise cloud data architectures in Azure.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks for data engineering and AI/ML workloads.
• Experience with Power BI or similar visualization platforms.
• Familiarity with AWS data services is a plus.
• Strong background in data governance and federal data standards (FISMA, NIST 800-53).
• Experience with large-scale data migration and architecture modernization.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation.
• Thrives in a remote, collaborative Agile environment.
• Strong communication skills for presenting architecture decisions and integration designs.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and may require U.S. citizenship and security clearance.
• Bachelor's Degree required.
