Remote Data Architect

Description:

• Xenon7 is seeking a Data Architect to join a premier financial institution in Egypt, known for its comprehensive banking services.
• The role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing data pipelines using both batch and streaming processing frameworks.
• Responsibilities include architecting and maintaining data lakehouse solutions using Apache Iceberg and object storage like S3.
• The Data Architect will implement scalable Data Vault and Star Schema models and build real-time ingestion pipelines with Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
• The position requires integrating and orchestrating workflows using tools such as Airflow, dbt, NiFi, or Airbyte.
• The role also involves enforcing data governance, data quality, and access control policies, as well as troubleshooting pipeline performance and reliability issues.

Requirements:

• Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in data engineering or backend development is required.
• A strong background in software engineering and distributed systems is essential.
• Applicants should have a deep understanding of data processing frameworks, specifically Kafka, Spark, and Flink.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language, such as Python or Java, is necessary.
• A solid understanding of functional and object-oriented programming principles is required.
• Proven experience with modern data stack tools, including Airflow, dbt, and Docker, is expected.
• Familiarity with Apache Iceberg, S3-compatible object stores, and Lakehouse architecture is important.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, such as Cassandra or MongoDB, is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex data workflows are essential.
