Description:

Beam is seeking a Data Engineer to join their Engineering team focused on data development for social impact.
The role involves creating and maintaining data infrastructure and processes that support business intelligence to drive Beam’s mission of shifting $10 Billion to high-impact nonprofits.
The data platform processes over 7TB of data every 90 minutes, providing complex analytics to partners and actionable data to internal stakeholders.
The position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of open-source data technologies, build new features, and enhance existing functionalities.

The data tech stack includes Apache Spark, Kubernetes, Apache Airflow, pytest, uv, Snowflake, and S3.

Requirements:

Candidates should have 2+ years of experience using Python and SQL for data-intensive applications or 3+ years as a Software Engineer in a primarily Python codebase.
Experience working on production-level data systems in a collaborative environment is required.
Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential.
Candidates must be proficient with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
Familiarity with development principles such as observability, performance optimization, continuous integration, automated testing, and cloud infrastructure is necessary.
Understanding of distributed computing architecture, data warehouse, and data lake storage patterns is required.
Strong communication skills are needed to explain and advocate for technical projects to non-technical roles.

The expected annual compensation range is $154,000-181,500 USD, with a base salary of $140,000-165,000 USD and up to a 10% annual bonus based on individual performance.

There is a 50% match on 401k contributions of up to 6% of base salary.
A $100 monthly wellness stipend is provided.
