Description:

Responsible for the operational health and long-term reliability of AccuWeather's SQL Server and PostgreSQL database environments.
Key tasks include performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, security management, capacity planning, and incident analysis.
Involvement in migrating databases to cloud environments, optimizing for performance and security.
Collaborate with Data Architect and engineering teams to establish database standards and improve practices.

Requirements:

BA/BS in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of experience in database administration, or MS with 3+ years.
Proficiency in SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and security management.
Advanced SQL/T-SQL skills and knowledge of a scripting language (Python or PowerShell).
Experience with cloud database migrations and awareness of operational costs.
Mentoring experience with less experienced engineers is preferred.
