Remote Database Administrator III

Description:

• Responsible for the operational health and long-term reliability of AccuWeather's SQL Server and PostgreSQL database environments.
• Key tasks include performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, security management, capacity planning, and incident analysis.
• Involvement in migrating databases to cloud environments, optimizing for performance and security.
• Collaborate with Data Architect and engineering teams to establish database standards and improve practices.

Requirements:

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of experience in database administration, or MS with 3+ years.
• Proficiency in SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and security management.
• Advanced SQL/T-SQL skills and knowledge of a scripting language (Python or PowerShell).
• Experience with cloud database migrations and awareness of operational costs.
• Mentoring experience with less experienced engineers is preferred.
