Remote Principal DevOps Engineer (Azure)

Description:

• The Principal DevOps Engineer is responsible for ensuring adherence to the SLAs as per contract.
• This role involves taking the lead on urgent issues and projects, ensuring statuses are properly communicated and appropriate staffing resources are assigned as required.
• The engineer will design, build, support, and manage engineering activities related to cloud initiatives, specifically focusing on cloud and Puppet automation.
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues in the tech stack, including Linux, Networking, and Load Balancing, is a key responsibility.
• The position requires a thorough process methodology and the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Collaboration with development engineering is essential to create and deploy a CI/CD infrastructure.
• The engineer will develop and implement environments for quality assurance, development, and other purposes.
• Responsibilities also include deploying and supporting applications in a cloud environment.
• The role entails ensuring infrastructure security and making sure environments are secure, reliable, scalable, and automated.
• Providing direct server support during various operations such as deployment and general production is required.
• The engineer will collaborate with developers to ensure new environments meet requirements and conform to best practices.
• Designing, implementing, and testing agreed-upon infrastructures is part of the job.
• Automating the deployment of Linux applications, system configurations, and security settings is expected.
• The engineer will evaluate candidates for open positions.

Requirements:

• A BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar relevant field is required.
• Candidates must have a minimum of 6-10 years of related experience in the professional industry.
• Experience working with tools like Jenkins, Azure, App Center, Cloud Formation, Ansible, Subversion, Docker, or relevant technologies is necessary.
• Strong experience in the administration of cloud-hosted environments on at least one popular cloud IAAS platform such as Azure and AWS is required.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and automation tooling is essential.
• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft products, including TFS and TeamCity, is needed.
• Candidates should have facility with techniques used to virtualize servers, applications, and desktops, along with knowledge of data center requirements to implement each technology.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Chef is mandatory.
• Experience with infrastructure tools like Terraform and Cloud Formation is required.
• Familiarity with CI/CD toolchains, particularly Kubernetes, is necessary.
• Basic level scripting experience in languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, or Powershell is required.
• Experience with Linux distributions, including Rhel 8, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Amazon Linux, is essential.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are a must.
