Beam is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Engineering team focused on data development.
The role involves creating and maintaining the data platform, infrastructure, and processes that support business intelligence for Beam’s mission of shifting $10 Billion to high-impact nonprofits.
The data platform processes over 7TB of data every 90 minutes, providing complex analytics to partners and actionable data to internal stakeholders.
The position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of open-source data technologies, build new features, and enhance existing functionalities.

The data tech stack includes Apache Spark, Kubernetes, Apache Airflow, pytest, Snowflake, and S3.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer using Python and SQL, or 5+ years as a Software Engineer in a primarily Python codebase.
Experience in production-level data systems within a collaborative team environment is required.
Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential.
Candidates should be skilled in relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
Experience with Apache Airflow for task orchestration is necessary.
Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools, such as Tableau, is required.
Knowledge of development principles like observability, performance optimization, continuous integration, automated testing, and cloud infrastructure is expected.
Understanding of distributed computing architecture, data warehouse, and data lake storage patterns is important.
Strong communication skills are needed to explain technical projects to non-technical roles.

The expected annual compensation range is $176,000-198,000 USD, with a base salary of $160,000-180,000 USD and up to a 10% annual bonus based on individual performance.

There is a 50% match on 401k contributions of up to 6% of base salary.
