Description:

The position is for a Senior Data Engineer based in the UK, with a remote working option.
The role involves building core infrastructure software, including pipelines, APIs, and data modeling, as part of the client's data platform team.
Responsibilities include instrumenting systems for performance and enhancements, ensuring data offerings are accessible to various internal and external stakeholders using secure authentication patterns.
The engineer will choose and implement appropriate technologies for scaling data access patterns, batch processing, and data streaming for soft real-time consumption, considering the client's unique domain knowledge.
As a senior collaborator, the engineer will coach and mentor other engineers to support their technical growth.

Requirements:

Proven experience in writing highly maintainable and performant code in Python and JavaScript.
Experience in building modern data pipelines using tools such as dbt, Kafka, Spark, AWS Kinesis, AWS Lambda, and Apache Airflow or similar technologies.
Understanding of Data Modeling patterns is essential.
Deep knowledge of complex SQL, particularly with Common Table Expressions, window functions, and their performance implications.
Experience with end-to-end monitoring and alerting tools like CloudWatch and Datadog.
Strong problem-solving skills that balance innovation with pragmatic technology choices to meet business needs.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic production environment while managing client expectations.
A distinct customer focus and a quality mindset are required.
Experience collaborating closely with engineering leadership and architects to deliver high-quality solutions.
A high degree of ownership and transparency in deliverables is expected.
Exceptional communication skills to convey complex ideas simply.
