Workana is seeking a Senior Full-Stack AI Engineer for a 3-4 month project, with significant opportunities for extension.
The position is remote but requires overlapping hours with U.S. Eastern Time, including occasional client meetings.
The client is an AI-native consulting and implementation partner that helps mid-market and enterprise clients modernize workflows using Gen-AI, automation, and cloud platforms.
The role involves owning delivery rather than just executing tickets, requiring the ability to transform ambiguous requirements into functional systems.
Candidates should be comfortable being the most senior engineer on a project stream and must be able to move quickly without compromising production quality.
Responsibilities include designing and building full-stack features, shipping real AI systems, prototyping quickly, making technical decisions, collaborating with strategists and clients, and light DevOps ownership.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 6–8+ years of experience building production software across both front-end and back-end.
Hands-on experience with Gen-AI in real products is required, not just experiments.
A strong command of JavaScript and TypeScript is necessary.
Proven experience with modern stacks such as React/Next.js, Node.js (Nest, Express, or similar), and SQL databases (Postgres), caches, and vector stores is essential.
Candidates should be comfortable designing secure, production-grade systems, including authentication (RBAC), secrets management, auditability, and handling PII-aware data.
Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or Vercel, as well as CI/CD fundamentals, is required.
Clear communication skills are necessary to explain technical trade-offs to non-engineers.
Candidates should be comfortable working embedded within a client team.

The position offers the potential for full-time, long-term engagement after the initial 3–4 month period, with strong chances to extend and join future projects.
It is remote and nearshore-friendly, allowing work from LATAM with 4–5 hours of overlap with U.S. Eastern Time.

Engineers will work on production AI, shipping real Gen-AI features for mid-market and enterprise clients, rather than just demos.
The team consists of fast, high-trust small senior squads, enabling direct collaboration with strategists, engineers, and client stakeholders.
The position utilizes a modern stack with TypeScript-first, full-stack delivery (React/Next.js, Node.js) and incorporates AI tooling into the workflow.
There is a clear scope and accountability model, including a time and materials approach with tracked hours and direct impact on outcomes.
