Description:

  • Enode is seeking a Software Engineer to build and grow its Connect platform, which facilitates how energy companies integrate with devices at scale.
  • The role involves building and evolving integrations and backend systems that support EV charging, home energy management, and other features for both internal and customer-facing use cases.
  • The successful candidate will join the Connect engineering group, working within either the EV Charging or Home Energy team based on their background and interests.
  • Responsibilities include building and maintaining backend integrations with vendor cloud platforms, designing and shipping production-ready backend features, and collaborating with Product, Support, and Commercial teams to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
  • The engineer will debug and improve services in a Node/TypeScript and AWS-based stack, take ownership of well-scoped problems, and contribute to code reviews and technical discussions.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have experience building and maintaining backend services in a production environment, ideally involving APIs, integrations, or external systems.
  • A solid understanding of backend fundamentals, including reliability, scalability, performance, and operating software in production, is required.
  • Applicants should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, asking questions early, and proactively seeking clarity when requirements or systems are unfamiliar.
  • Clear and thoughtful communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with engineers, product managers, and customer-facing teams.
  • A product-oriented mindset is necessary, with a focus on solving real user problems rather than just writing code.
  • Nice to have: Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, or similar modern backend stacks; prior work on API-first products or integration platforms; familiarity with energy, IoT, or connected device ecosystems; experience using AI or advanced tooling for productivity; and exposure to on-call rotations or operating backend systems.

Benefits:

  • The position offers the opportunity to join and impact an early-stage climate tech startup with global aspirations as it scales.
  • Employees will work in a mission-driven, fun, and caring environment with high drive and ambition.
  • Competitive compensation is provided, including an attractive employee option program.
  • The company operates on a remote-first basis in Europe, with options for attending an office in Oslo or receiving a co-working pass on demand.
  • Employees will have the chance to participate in three annual off-sites to connect with the team in exciting and fun locations.
  • A flexible, human-first culture is promoted, along with a stipend for setting up a home office.
