The California Independent System Operator (ISO) manages the flow of electricity across California's power grid, ensuring reliable operation 24/7 for 30 million Californians.
The Senior Database Engineer will maintain the integrity of enterprise-wide Oracle, SQL Server, and Postgres databases and associated applications.
This role involves performing database and software lifecycle upgrades to ensure optimal systems performance and availability in compliance with business requirements.
The engineer will collaborate with business unit personnel to analyze and resolve issues in a time-critical environment.
Responsibilities include database engineering and administration, high availability and disaster recovery, performance tuning, database scripting and automation, backup and recovery, security and compliance, mentorship and collaboration, troubleshooting and support, and attending business meetings to develop best practices.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Management of Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
Candidates must have five or more years of related experience, equivalent to the education and training.
Oracle DBA Certification is preferred, along with certifications in other database platforms being desirable.
Required experience includes Oracle database administration as a developer and/or administrator, and working in corporate IT environments.
Desirable experience includes Cassandra RDBMS, Postgres RDBMS, LDAP, Oracle Transparent Application Failover, PowerShell scripting, and NERC-CIP compliance standards.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities are essential.
Candidates must be self-starting, able to work independently under pressure, and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

The pay range for the Sr Database Engineer is between $121,125 and $201,875 annually.
