Description:

ClickUp is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join the Hierarchy Squad, which is responsible for building and optimizing core services of ClickUp’s productivity platform.
The role involves developing and maintaining robust, scalable backend systems using Node.js (Express and NestJS).
Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers, designers, and product managers to drive projects forward, tuning and optimizing database queries for maximum efficiency, and troubleshooting and debugging issues.
The ideal candidate should have a passion for architecting reliable and high-performing distributed systems and be excited about building a platform that integrates with every team in the company.
Key technologies used in this role include Typescript, Postgres, Kafka, NestJS, and Amazon Web Services.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 8+ years of professional experience building backend services for SaaS products.
A proven track record of building and scaling backend systems is required.
Expertise in relational database query optimizations, preferably with PostgreSQL, is essential.
An extensive background in working with databases (both SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling is necessary.
Strong understanding of RESTful API design and implementation is required.
Experience with agile development methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban is expected.
Familiarity with version control systems like Git is necessary.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling challenges are essential.
Strong communication skills are required, as collaboration is key to success.
Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
Familiarity with frontend technologies (Angular, React, Vue) and professional experience with NodeJs, Express, and NestJS are considered a plus.
