Description:

  • The Autonomy Support Simulation Software Engineer will validate the safety and functionality of autonomous vehicle systems through comprehensive simulation testing.
  • This role involves creating simulation scenarios to evaluate system functionality and building tools and processes to improve simulation testing efficiency.
  • The engineer will work closely with development engineers to implement simulation tests that ensure continuous improvement of the autonomy software.
  • Responsibilities include building and maintaining tools and infrastructure for creating, executing, and analyzing thousands of simulation scenarios across multiple vehicle platforms.
  • The engineer will develop automation scripts, improve existing workflows, and create new testing frameworks to support autonomous vehicle operations.
  • They will analyze simulation results to identify autonomy issues or necessary scenario adjustments.
  • The role requires a comprehensive understanding of simulation tools and the ability to resolve technical issues.
  • The engineer will create and maintain documentation for simulation testing standards and processes, debug existing test scenarios, and provide technical support and training to team members.
  • Collaboration with various teams is essential to process simulation test requests and implement testing solutions.

Requirements:

  • A B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent degree is required.
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles and best practices is necessary.
  • Proficiency in programming with Python and experience with automation tooling is required.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Git, and CI pipelines is essential.
  • Experience with project management tools like Jira is needed to create effective tracking systems and workflows.
  • Candidates should have demonstrated analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • The ability to independently troubleshoot software issues and prioritize multiple tasks is necessary.
  • A passion for self-driving cars and their impact on the world is essential.
  • Desirable qualifications include an M.S. or Ph.D. in a related technical field and a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
