Description:

  • Axon is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Computer Vision and Machine Learning Scientist to join their AI team, focusing on AI applications in Cloud, Devices, and Robotics.
  • The role involves advancing the state-of-the-art in Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) and Computer Vision technologies.
  • Responsibilities include researching and developing advanced MLLMs, GenAI, and Computer Vision techniques from multimodal data sources.
  • The candidate will design and implement efficient and scalable MLLM models for inference and analysis of visual data.
  • The position requires exploring novel approaches to address challenges in object detection, recognition, tracking, segmentation, and scene understanding.
  • The scientist will optimize algorithms for performance, memory footprint, and energy efficiency for resource-constrained devices.
  • Collaboration with MLEs, firmware, or hardware engineers is essential to leverage hardware accelerators and optimize algorithms for specific hardware architectures.
  • Evaluating the performance of MLLM models using real-world datasets and designing experiments to validate their effectiveness is a key responsibility.
  • Staying updated with the latest research trends in computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning is necessary.
  • Contributions to patent disclosures, academic publications, and technical documentation are expected.
  • The role includes coaching and mentoring junior scientists.

Requirements:

  • A PhD with over 5 years of experience in Computer Science or a related field, focusing on MLLMs, computer vision, machine learning, or artificial intelligence is required.
  • A proven track record of research excellence in machine learning and computer vision, demonstrated through publications in top-tier conferences or journals, is essential.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C/C++, along with experience in deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras, is necessary.
  • Experience with ROS or robotic operational systems is required.
  • The candidate should have experience in driving one or more phases of the ML development lifecycle, including shaping datasets and implementing end-to-end training pipelines.
  • The ability to leverage state-of-the-art research to deliver high-quality models for multiple AI projects at scale is important.
  • Contributions to the research community via academic publications, tech blogs, and open-source code are expected.
  • Experience in developing computer vision algorithms for resource-constrained devices is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are required.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences are necessary.
