Description:
As a Backend Engineer on the Govern:Authentication team at GitLab, you will be responsible for building a secure and easy-to-manage access system.
You will work on implementing various authentication strategies, including user and password-based login, access tokens, and SAML configurations.
Your role will involve developing new authentication mechanisms like Passkeys and passwordless authentication to enhance access management for users.
You will address vulnerabilities in existing features reported via the HackerOne program to ensure the security of GitLab and its customers.
The Authentication group collaborates on core components used by external users and GitLab teams, allowing you to have a direct impact on the GitLab product.
Example projects include enterprise user management, secure automation improvements, transparent credential management, token management, and enhancements for automated user provisioning and SSO.
Requirements:
Professional experience with Ruby on Rails is essential for this role.
Experience in a scaling or mission-critical SaaS product is required.
Familiarity with authentication and authorization technologies such as SAML, SSO, SCIM, LDAP, RBAC, or IAM is beneficial.
Proficiency in written and verbal English is necessary for success in a remote work environment.
Ability to communicate complex problems and solutions clearly and concisely.
Experience with performance optimization and problem-solving in an agile software development process.
Positive and solution-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.
Experience owning a project from concept to production, including proposal, discussion, and execution.
