As a Backend Software Engineer II, you will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that impact health equity.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create high-quality, reliable, and performant software.
Responsibilities include independently developing features, breaking down complex problems, maintaining high test coverage, collaborating with team members, optimizing performance, managing databases, implementing automation, providing operational support, and mentoring new team members.
Requirements:
You must have at least 2-3 years of experience as a backend engineer, specifically with Ruby on Rails, Postgres, and GCP.
A proven ability to design and maintain complex backend systems, including APIs and services, is required.
Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and database optimization is necessary.
Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and delivering high-quality, testable code is essential.
You should be skilled at breaking down complex problems and consistently delivering work on schedule.
Strong interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively in a fully distributed environment are important.
Previous experience with on-call responsibilities and familiarity with incident management processes is a plus.
A commitment to CareMessage’s mission to improve health equity and an interest in the health tech sector are required.

The salary for this role is set at $139,000 per year, with a commitment to equal pay for equal work.
