Remote Backend System Developer

Description:

• The Backend System Developer position at Rising Academies involves building, designing, and maintaining key technical aspects of the architecture to deliver AI-powered ed-tech products.
• The role includes working on Rori, a Math tutor chatbot available on WhatsApp, to expand the technical stack for new features and AI-powered conversational products.
• Responsibilities also include contributing to team discussions on engineering standards, best practices, and upskilling on new technologies.
• The position requires contributing to the design of services for the conversational tech stack, ensuring engineering implementations meet technical standards, and acting as technical support for the systems.
• The Backend System Developer will have the opportunity to work with new technologies like Rust and contribute to decisions on their adoption within the team's tech stack.

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of experience in databases, application hosting, software engineering, and system security.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with Python-based development and deployment, preferably using FastAPI and Django.
• At least 2 years of experience in API development, testing, and deployment at scale.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in architecture design for backend systems and microservice architecture development and deployment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with CI/CD, modern deployment, and monitoring practices, preferably using Docker or other containerization approaches.
• At least 2 years of experience in modern software practices like kanban, agile methodologies, or similar.
• Ability to understand organizational and product requirements and translate them into technical system plans.
• Beneficial: Experience with Rust, Go, Elixir, C++, or other "systems" languages.
