Description:
Skylight is a digital consultancy focused on helping government agencies improve public services through design and technology.
The Business Operations AI Engineer will design, build, and implement AI-powered solutions to enhance internal operations and employee experiences.
Responsibilities include analyzing operational efficiency, developing tools and workflows, integrating automation into client delivery operations, and implementing a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) framework.
The role involves automating routine processes, building predictive models, and collaborating with non-technical team members to create user-friendly solutions.
The engineer will promote ethical AI practices and provide training to teams on AI and automation tools.
This position reports to Skylight’s Chief Information Officer and offers the chance to shape and grow the AI-driven business operations team.
Requirements:
Candidates must have experience in machine learning or AI, with a proven ability to apply AI solutions to real-world challenges.
Experience in designing or implementing technology-driven automation workflows is required.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences are essential.
Familiarity with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch is necessary.
Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R used in AI or automation development is required.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work in a professional services environment are important.
Candidates should be passionate about improving public outcomes through government services and be willing to travel occasionally.
Nice-to-have qualifications include familiarity with embedding models, experience with Google Workspace integration, knowledge of data privacy, and experience in natural language processing tasks.

The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $200,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
