Description:
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Data Review will review chromatographic data and calculated results from standardized urinalysis tests in a toxicology laboratory.
This position utilizes advanced LC-MS-MS technology and EIA for detecting prescription and illicit drugs.
Responsibilities include applying toxicological and chromatographic rule sets to determine the acceptability of results, requesting additional testing as necessary, and approving reports and patient results for ordering physicians.
The role involves troubleshooting result issues, reporting laboratory test results for all approved test methods, and ensuring accuracy and quality of test results within required turnaround times.
The scientist will enter testing data, review chromatography and calculated results, evaluate the validity of results, maintain proper records, and create reports.
Quality control and LC-MS-MS chromatographic data must be maintained prior to releasing results to physicians.
The position requires identifying, troubleshooting, documenting, and resolving test result issues, as well as acting as a resource to laboratory technicians and assistants.
Safe laboratory practices must be followed, and participation in operational support activities is necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities.
The scientist may oversee the duties of clinical laboratory technicians and assistants and participate in internal laboratory audits.
Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in high complexity testing within a CLIA/CAP environment is required.
The candidate must maintain continuing education units as required by the California Department of Health Services.
Knowledge of laboratory methods, techniques, and equipment is essential.
Proficiency in MS applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees are necessary.
Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy is crucial.
A Bachelor’s degree with a current California CLS license is mandatory, and an ASCP license is highly preferred.
Essential physical and mental requirements include the ability to sit for 85% of the time, walk for 5%, stand for 10%, and lift up to 20 lbs.
The employee must be able to read and understand standard operating procedures (SOPs) and convert them into work-related tasks.
The ability to perform simple calculations and use judgment in case of system deviations is required.
The employee should thrive in high-pressure situations and tolerate moderate noise levels.
Benefits:
The potential hiring range for this position is $93,600 - $104,000.
A $200 weekend differential is added for each weekend worked.
