Description:

  • GoodParty.org is seeking a Data Engineer with JavaScript or Python experience and a background in building ETL pipelines.
  • The position is remote and available to candidates based in the United States.
  • The Data Engineer will build systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into usable information for candidates running for office.
  • Responsibilities include implementing methods to improve data reliability, security, and quality, as well as combining raw information from different sources into consistent formats.
  • The role involves developing and testing architectures for data extraction and transformation, creating unique data infrastructure, and running tests using big data technologies.
  • Collaboration with a lean, agile team using CI/CD and Kanban methodologies is essential.
  • The Data Engineer will work directly with Product, Design, and QA teams and partner closely with the Data Analytics Lead.
  • The position reports to the CTO and is the first Data Engineer hire in a team of senior developers.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have strong scripting skills in Python and be proficient in data exploration using SQL.
  • Experience in data modeling, building data warehouses, and creating ETL pipelines that process millions of records is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant full-time work experience is preferred, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Familiarity with BigQuery or an equivalent big data tool is necessary.
  • Interest in using AI, LLMs, and automation of tasks through AI is important, along with previous work or personal projects in this area.
  • Candidates should be able to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems in real-time.
  • Bonus qualifications include coding in JavaScript and experience in politics, political activism, or democracy reform.
